The
Pokémon TCG:
Platinum Series has your wake-up call with its newest expansion—
Rising Rivals, which has some great cards that take advantage of making your opponent's
Pokémon Asleep. Let's start with
Darkrai
![[G]](/common/img/inline/G_mark.png)
(3/111) and its awesome Eerie Aura Poké-Body. Even while on the Bench,
Darkrai
![[G]](/common/img/inline/G_mark.png)
will be giving your opponent's sleeping Pokémon nightmares. If they wake up, bring
Darkrai
![[G]](/common/img/inline/G_mark.png)
to
the front and use its Darkness Sleep attack to put 'em back to bed. But you'll need help getting
them Asleep in the first place, so here are some options for slumber supporters!
You'll Know All Their Deepest Secrets
Since
Darkrai
![[G]](/common/img/inline/G_mark.png)
is
weak to Fighting-type Pokémon, countering that with some Water-type Pokémon is a good idea. Both
Spheal
(82/111) and
Froslass
![[GL]](/common/img/inline/GL_Mark.png)
(6/111) have attacks that cost 1 Energy and make the Defending Pokémon Asleep, so they're solid
choices. But
Froslass
![[GL]](/common/img/inline/GL_Mark.png)
might be your best option though, as its second attack, Wake-Up Slap, does 50 damage to those
sleepy Pokémon. Just make sure to take notice that attack requires 1 Psychic Energy and not Water!
Sleeping in The Spotlight
Both of the Snorlax and the
LV.X version in
Rising Rivals deal with sleep, and you'll want to look at all of them to see which you
want in your deck. The
LV.
37 Snorlax (33/111) gets your Energy flowing with its Pick and Collect attack, but Roll Over
hits hard and can cause sleep. Just be careful, as your Snorlax could take a nap as well. The
LV.
40 Snorlax (81/111) can keep the opponent's Active Pokémon right where it is with its Bad
Sleeping Habits Poké-Body, and it can even attack while it's Asleep! And both versions of Snorlax
Level-Up to the powerful
Snorlax
LV.X (111/111). Once Leveled-Up, you'll be
drawing cards and healing your Snorlax, and doing some serious damage! And don't forget, all of
Snorlax's attacks are Colorless type, so you won't be adding another type of Energy to your deck!
Hear the Things They're Dreaming About
Now that you've got some friends to make the rival Pokémon Asleep,
Darkrai
![[G]](/common/img/inline/G_mark.png)
is
ready to go. Don't forget to add 4
Special
Darkness Energy cards (99/111) to give Darkness Sleep some extra punch! And feel free to
experiment with some other great sleep inducers.
Whiscash

(54/111),
Espeon

(18/111),
and
Leafeon
(45/111) also have some great attacks to keep your opponents yawning throughout the battle!
